There is a label at the bottom of the painting " Original Work Of Art Made In Japan"Uchida Art Co.  

It is unframed and hand been  loosely  taped on heavy paper.  The painting is   16" x  14.5"  and the paper is   21.5"  x 15.5".      The condition of the painting is excellent.  The heavy paper board is yellowed under the area of where the painting is or was.   

It was purchased by a family member in the 1970's in Japan.  It has been in a frame ever since.    

I am selling this unframed because the frame was not that special and it was very heavy.   Plus it needed to re-framed anyway since the silk was sliding down in the frame. Plus the silk has some wrinkles.       You have a choice of having it mailed to you with the hard paper backing which will cost more or I can roll up the painting and mail just that for much cheaper.    Just let me know of your preferences at the time of purchase.    

Sumi-e art ,  Asian ink wash painting may be regarded as an earliest form of expressionistic art that captures the unseen  as said on Wikipedia.
