Unusual form of inkwell featuring a seated figure, perhaps a god or deity holding what appears to be a large bell upside down. The bell is the inkwell. The original brass inkwell insert is present. There are highlighted areas of gilt in a number of places around the figure and the bell, and it has a really lovely old patina. Condition overall is excellent with the normal sort of wear you'd expect of a piece around 100 years old. Probably Meiji Period, circa 1900 Measures 7 cm tall and 8 cm across at the base (2.3/4 inches by 3.1/4 inches). Charming piece, very querky. Heavy.
