Antique 19th century Islamic Indo Persian Afghan Sword. "D" shaped iron stirrup hilt with a compressed shamshir style pommel, a sturdy knuckle bow pierced with two slots and a short down curving rear quillon, fitted with plane wooden grip-scales retained by two rivets, and an iron pommel. A Broad slightly curved single edged blade of kilij form with fuller and yelmen, the blade near the hilt is fluted, the sword is with its original leather covered wooden scabbard. A broad slightly curved single-edged blade with a full-length fuller, double -edged toward the point, with a yelmen, forte stamped with a Royal Afghan crest, and armory marks with Arabic numbers. A leather-bound wooden scabbard with a large steel chape and locket with a suspension ring. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 79 cm (31 1/8 in), length without the scabbard: 78 cm (30 3/4 in), length of the blade: 65 cm (25 5/8 in), width of the blade at the widest point: 4 cm (1 5/8 in). CONDITION: In very good condition considering its age.
