Jewelry mailing box from Hamilton & Co, Bombay.
Robert Hamilton started his jewelry and silver company in Bombay in 1908. The firm did business continually until 1973.
This is a sturdy cardboard box with reinforced corners used by the company for mailing.
The label reads
HAMILTON & CO, LDGovernment Jewelers
Calcutta, Dehli, Simla
by appointment to H.E. the Rt. Hon. Lord Irwin
Governor-General and Viceroy of India
Edward Frederick Lindley Wood, Lord Irwin (and later 1st Earl of Halifax) was in India 1926-1931.
