A nice engraved silver dessert spoon, the bowl decorated with bright-cut engraving of a flower basket. The engraving, though inspired by Western designs, retains a clearly Slavic look. The design is enhanced with parcel gilding on some of the flowers and on the twist handle. The handle is fully hallmarked for the 84 standard, Moscow, 1885. The maker’s mark is that of Roman Aristakov (active Moscow, 1880-96). Origin: Russia, 1885. Condition: excellent, original gilding intact, no monogram. Size: 5-5/8” long. Weight: 19.5 grams.
