For Sale I have a Lovely piece of Carnival Glass made by the Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio. The Pattern is the extremely detailed "Lustre or Open Rose". The shape is known as a Collar Footed Ruffled Bowl and it is in the harder to find "Green" Base Glass.
The Bowl depicts a very pleasing pattern of Two Roses in Full Bloom on the inside bottom with several Rose Buds along the Prickly stems rising between the folds of the bowl. The Background shows stippling throughout and gives this piece more than enough detail. The Iridescence is nice and strong inside as you can see Vivid Gold's and lots of Fuchsia on the Bottom Roses almost separating them distinctly from the pattern.
The Reverse Side is even more detailed than inside or front. There are wide Panels of Raised Single Roses with Buds separated by vertical bands of what look like Daises to me. There is also stippling throughout backside background. The Patten Rises from Concentric Rings along the bottom Round Collar Foot. This Pattern has some of the most detailed ever made by any Carnival Glass manufacturer. It was surely a crowd pleaser and thousands of examples have survived.
The Bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There isn't even iridescence loss like so many have. The Bowl is not signed as was the case with these. They more than likely had a Paper or Foil Label. This an excellent example of the this Pattern by Imperial Glass.
This bowl was made Circa 1911-1914. It's amazing it has survived almost 100 years and is still as beautiful as they day it was made.
