Igorot Tribe Ceremonial Seed Basket from the Philippines

Unavailable
This seed basket originates from the Igorot or Cordilleran region people from the Philippine Island of Luzon. These people are known today for their rice terrace farming techniques and formally known as headhunters. This basket is in its original condition with some of the seed residue still remaining caked to the interior basket weave; as well as dirt from usage. This square shaped basket has rounded edges and a rounded edge cover. The cover and the basket have loops that align to suggest that perhaps they could have been joined to "latch" the basket closed. The weave is very tight and reinforced with slim pieces of bent wood. The color of the basket is chocolate brown.
