Date: 1970s Size: 13.5 X 19.5 inches Notes: Poster, Linen Backed Artist: Peynet About The Poster: A wonderful travel poster reated by the artist Raymond Peynet (French 1908 - 1999). Famous for his depiction of lovers - often called the Peynet lovers - and for using his wife as his muse, Peynet created works which most often incorporated a violin-playing man who is aiming to attract the attention of a woman. Peynet created cartoons, magazines, books and posters and even scarves, dolls, medals, statues and other merchandise - all using the image of his lovers. Charles Aznavour also wrote a song for the lovers of Peynet singing by Marcel Amont, “the lovers of paper”. In addition, 4 museums honour the lovers of Peynet: Antibes, Brassac les Mines (native town of Peynet’s mother), Karuizawa (Nagano-Japan) and Sakutocho (Okayama-Japan). This poster was produced, to the best of our knownledge, in both French and Italian, by the Italian Council for touristic promotion (Consorzione promozione turistica Liguria-Italia). Poster is in very good condition and is mounted on linen and framed.
