Orientalist Constantinople Istanbul Harbor Oil Painting by Bevort

Unavailable

This fine impasto oil on canvas is signed Bevort and believed to be a work by the hand of the Dutch painter, Johan Hubet Hendrick Bevort (1917-1996), possibly after an original watercolor by Count Amadeo Preziosi (1816-1882), the Maltese artist who received his title from the King of Sicily.  Stretcher measures 24 by 32 in  and the period frame measures 31 by 39.5 by 2.8 in.  Depicted are three men at dockside with an enormous mosque in the background, believed to represent the Süleymaniye.
