If you are less than 70 years of age you probably do not recognize this item. This is the original snow cone machine. The shaver has a blade much like a carpenter's plane which shaves a block of ice as it is moved back and forth across the surface. The shaved ice is collected in the shaver, the hinged top is then lifted and you have the basic makings for an original snow cone. Only the flavoring needs to be added. This shaver, called the Artic Ice Shaver, was made by the Grey Iron Casting Co. of Mt. Joy, PA around 1890, and is still in working order. A great gift for the person who has everything.
