This is an vintage horse brass or pub brass depicting a stag head with antlers in a notched round frame which is a brass struck for the estates of the Duke of Westminster, as part of his heraldic device. The horse brass is very well made and was made on the estates in 1920-1920s. The horse brass measures 3 inches high by 3 inches wide, has a slightly concave back and has a mark of the number 15 which is unusual as 90% of horse brasses are unmarked. Horse brasses were developed in the 17th century to decorate and identify draft horses and are very collectible. In England you see them decorating the beams in pubs or hung by the fireplace in homes.
