Constructed out of solid birch with solid ash legs that resemble rattan, this coffee table exemplifies the stark style and simplicity of line that makes mid-century modern furniture relevant in todays homes.
A bit of ingenuity came into being when creating the Ashcraft design. Since the East Indian shipping port of Macassa was bombed during World War II, and the supply of rattan was halted, Heywood was no longer able to get rattan so he began using New England ash and a wood burning method in order to achieve the look of rattan; hence the Ashcraft style of furniture was created.
