Hermes Black Leather Jewelry Case

This Hermes leather jewelry case in black was recently purchased at a local house sale and is in near-mint condition. It measures 15.5 by 9.5 by 4.25 inches (39.4 by 24.1 by 10.8 cm) and weighs an estimated 6 lbs. It features a velvet interior with pull-out compartment tray, and its original cotton-blend draw-string gift bag. It has received very little use and is believed to be 5-10 years old. There are light scuffs to the leather, but no deep scratches or tears, and looks new. No key is included. Hermes does not currently make a case of this kind. We've spoken with a handful of leading vintage Hermes dealers, and no one has seen such a case in recent years. The major auction databases (ArtFact and ArtNet) show no records of an Hermes case of this type, but recently an Hermes case of the same size, similar condition and features was auctioned by Christies. In Geneva on 11/20/08, a black leather Hermes case with red velvet interior, lot 2, sold for 27,500 CHF or $22,715. This lot can be seen in the online database at the Christie's website.
