Hawkeye Round Biscuit Basket of Bent Wood Splints & Braided Grass

$52.99
Quantity available: 1
Fabulous rustic old biscuit serving basket. It was made by the Hawkeye company of Burlington Iowa that was known for making outstanding woven bent wood picnic baskets from the 20's to 40's . This basket is round made with bent wood splints. The spaces are inner twinned with braided grasses. Some are dyed green alternating with natural. The top braid and rim are held together with old small nails. There is copper or bronze metal seal in center on the inside that indicates the maker. The patina is actually much darker than pictured. I had to brighten it up to show the details. The condition is good. The coloring is more faded on the outside. There are a few spits in one of the splints as shown in the pictures.
