Jam jar by Haviland & Company, Limoges, France in pattern Schleiger 488. Large roses in clusters on all sides. Jam was canned and was not in a pretty container. Therefore these jam jars were created to hold these jars. With the hole on the bottom a person could push the glass jar out of the hole. That way the presentation on the table with all the other Haviland was pretty. The Jar measures 4" tall and 5" wide, the underplate is 6.25". There are no cracks or chips. However, there was a tiny firing dot that hit just at the edge of the base which made a tiny hole. it is not a chip and doesn't take away from the beauty. These are very hard to find, especially in beautiful patterns like this one.
