Great Lakes Region Porcupine Quill Birch Bark Basket Box *** PRICE REDUCED!***

Unavailable

Very Old round birch bark & porcupine quill box made by a Native artist from the Great Lakes region. The basket is quite large for one of these quill boxes, measuring 6" across at the lid and 2¾" deep. The quill work is mostly intact, especially on the lid, although there is some damage to the leaf pattern on the sides. There are two areas on the top where the fragile layer of aged bark has been compromised. At point someone must have taped the basket shut. There is a strip on the bottom as well but is to so noticeable. But the sweetgrass rims are intact and the birch bark has no cracks or breaks.
