This large, antique Grand Tour bust in rouge and white marble is believed to depict the Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius (121-180). It measures 31.5" tall, 23" wide and 12" deep. The bust and socle are separate pieces. It is not signed and is believed to date from the nineteenth century. Aurelius was the last of the "five good emperors", and is also considered one of the most important Stoic philosophers. Additional images forwarded upon request.
