Souvenirs of their day, plaster Intaglios were sold to British travelers in Italy and subsequently brought back from their 18th and 19th century "Grand Tour" around Europe. They have not lost their appeal. These elegant cameos are an excellent collectible; they typically portray Greek and Roman deities, architectural detail and mythological figures. This offering is a group of three plaster cameo intaglios in a presentation shadowbox. The glass top box is about 4" x 5.5"; the largest cameo is about 1.75" x 1.5" and the two smallest cameos are about .75" to 1" in diameter. The cameos are in excellent condition. While these cameos were collected as far back as the 18th century, I believe this set is probably late Victorian.
