Grand 18th Century Giltwood 'Coquille Rocaille'
This antique French giltwood Rococo architectural is from the 1700’s. The attachment on its back, indicates it was likely part of a boiserie and placed over a piece of built in furniture. The ornamentation of the furnishings and boiserie would have been in the same style.
Today, these rare pieces of history are hung on walls or over mantles as pieces of sculptural artwork, mounted on bases and placed upon tables, or incorporated into another framework and made into headboards.
This magnificent antique French giltwood architectural will enhance any room. Condition: Minor losses of motifs, wear to gilding and motifs commensurate with age.
