Formal portrait of Grace Anna Goodhue Coolidge (January 3, 1879 â July 8, 1957). Mrs. Coolidge was the wife of Calvin Coolidge and First Lady of the United States from 1923 to 1929. The photo is framed with her autograph. The ink signature, Grace Coolidge, 1928 (as shown in photo) may be from a card or letter. Although dignified to the point of sternness in this portrait, Mrs. Coolidge was bright, vivacious, popular and a big baseball fan. She was undoubtedly her reticent husband's greatest political asset. She was professionally, a teacher of the deaf.
