Antique Gothic Revival Marble Top Mahogany Center Table

This wonderful George III style gothic revival table dates from the mid to late nineteenth century and exhibits exceptional craftsmanship.  It was appraised in 1998 for $20,000 by Sotheby's.  It features a variegated white marble top above a frieze decorated with carved fretwork and containing a flush center drawer.  The tops and bottoms of the tapered square legs feature trefoil arches carved entirely through on all four sides.  Legs end in block feet featuring carved rosettes.  Measures 52.5" wide, 31" deep and 29" high.  Could be used as a center table, hall table, writing table or desk. Copy of appraisal will be provided at time of sale.  Condition is good.  Marble top has a chip loss at the underside of the front right corner, and scratches and minor losses that are consistent with age.  Mahogany shows nicks, scratches and wear that is consistent with age.  Provenance and additional images forwarded upon request.
