This large ruffled edge bowl features an brightly gilded display of Goofus Glass--one of the first forms of carnival glass. Goofus glass dates from the late 1800's to early 1900's when its pressed glass designs were usually painted in shades of gold, green and red. This particular piece features an intaglio fruit design beautifully painted in rich ruby cranberry and gold metallic luster. There is some paint loss but this old bowl retains an impressive amount of its original paint. No maker's marks. No chips or cracks, just the usual straw marks common to this form of glassware.
