Glass Decanter Attributed to Venini Morandiane

Unavailable
This fabulous caned glass stoppered bottle was hand-blown and bears a very strong resemblence to the decanters designed by Gio Ponti in the 1940s and 1950s for Venini and their Morandiane series. Condition is excellent, with no chips or visible cracks, and no deep scratches. The level of craftsmanship is very high, but we have not found a signature. This triangular-shaped bottle measures 15.25" tall, 19.75" with stopper in place, and each side measures 3.25" wide. Olnickspanu.com (a site featuring glass from the collection of Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu of New York, NY) has three such bottles which are acid etched " Venini Murano Italia " and said to date from 1946 to 1950. Other sources suggest Gio Ponti's contribution to the Morandiane line started in the 1950s. Fulvio Bianconi also contributed to the line but his designs were very different from those of Ponti. This item resides in our client's gallery in Westchester County NY and may be seen by appointment. ( dualant )
