GEORGESCU Siagne Valley Landscape

This fine oil on canvas by the Romanian born painter, Constantin Georgescu (1926- ?), depicts a lush, wooded landscape in the Siagne river valley in Provence France. Lovely impressionist style. Stretcher measures 22" by 27" and frame measures 26" by 31" by 2". Signed by the artist in the lower right corner and dated 1973. Associated with Costesti and Buzau in Romania, Georgescu studied at the Institute of Fine Arts Nicolae Grigorescu in Bucharest in 1956. He is said to have also studied with Gheorghe Labin, Stefan Constantinescu, and Ghita Popescu. He was a member of the Union of the Visual Artists in Romania. Georgescu lived in the south of France for much of his life and is known primarily for his landscapes, waterfront scenes and seascapes. This is one of three works by Georgescu that we currently have for sale. This painting resides on the upper west side of Manhattan ( New York city ) and may be seen by appointment.
