This is an original aquatint and engraving from Miserere by Georges Rouault, entitled "Demain sera beau, disait lenauf ragé" ("Tomorrow will be beautiful, said the shipwrecked man"). From the original edition of 450, printed by Jacquemin of Paris on heavy laid paper with Arches and Ambroise Vollard watermarks, and published in 1948 by La Société d'Edition l' Etoile Filante of Paris. Signed and dated (1922) in the plate. Sheet measures approximately 50 cm by 65 cm and printed area measures approximately 43 cm by 58 cm. This print was recently framed by our client, and we were not able to inspect and photograph it prior to framing. Frame has some nicks and scratches but is in otherwise very good condition. Frame measures 25.5 by 31.5 by 1 inch, and the portion of the print exposed under matte measures 13.75 by 19.5 inches. Print appears to be in excellent condition. It is flat and shows no signs of foxing or fading.
