Georges GORI Art Deco Silvered Figurine

This is lovely silvered, chryselephantine sculpture by the French artist, Georges Gori, dates from circa 1930. Measures 13.5" (34 cm) high and 5.5" (15 cm) wide, and weighs 4 lbs. 14 oz. This figurine depicts an Egyptian dancer and features cold-painted decoration and its original onyx stone pedestal. Signed " g gori " in the stone. Gori was born in Paris and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He began exhibiting at the salon in 1929 and won a bronze in 1931. This work is shown on page 160 of Art Deco and Other Figures by Brian Catley. This item resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York, and may be seen by appointment.
