Galerie Maeght Lithograph Poster Aft BRAQUE

Unavailable
This lithographic poster from 1956 celebrates the Georges Braque exhibit at Galerie Maeght at 13 Rue de Teheran in Paris. Numbered " 13/50 " and signed in the stone twice: " G B 56 " and " G Braque " above the Mourlot imprint. Print is set upon woven linen matting and framed. Print measures approximately 19 5/8 x 29 1/2 inches. Frame measures 27 x 36 x 3/4 inches and weighs an estimated 8-10 lbs. Condition is excellent. This print is shown and discussed in Art in Posters: The Complete Original Posters of Braque, Chagall, Dufy, Leger, Miro and Picasso, edited by the famous printer, Fernand Mourlot, and published by G. Braziller in New York in 1959. Interestingly, this book mentions only an edition of 1,000 prints, and not the edition of 15 from which our print is derived. Additionally, the print shown in the book lacks the plate signatures seen in our print. In 1957 Adrien Maeght moved his gallery from 13 Rue de Teheran to its present location at 42 Rue du Bac. Today the Galerie Lelong is located at 13 Rue de Teheran.
