For Sale is a wonderful piece of pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, New Jersey. The shape is a Musical Jug that is just gorgeous. The piece measures approximately 9 1/2" tall with the stopper and is 5 1/4" in diameter. The base measures 4 7/16" wide.
The Jug displays a Mirrored Black Glaze that starts at the top and is applied to about the waist of the Vessel. The glaze is thick and gloopy and has accents of Blue and Brown. The bottom portion of the jug has an Oatmeal or Butterscotch Flambe glaze that also resembles accents of Copperdust. This piece is a real show stopper and the musical winding mechanism is in perfect working order . There is also an applied Handle that is in the Mirrored Black glaze.
The Jug is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There is no signature as there is the wooden bottom because of the musical mechanism. This would be an Impressive addition to any Art Pottery Collection and is just a fabulous example of this glaze combination. The surface is textured and the look is frothy. I'm sure the lucky buyer would not be disappointed.
This Jug was made Circa 1915-1925.
