The Kuba have one of the oldest and most developed cultures in Africa, lasting some
800 years.  Coming from the north they settled in the Southeastern Congo (Zaire) along
the Sankuru River.  Known as conquerors, they quickly assimilated most of their
neighbors into the Kuba Tribe.  This knife features a crudely forged 12" leaf-shaped iron
blade with long tapering fuller which matches the blade contour; showing lamination
and a damaged area about 3" from the rounded point.  Hardwood two-stage grip with
carved faces at the shoulder where it meets the blade.  Overall length 18".  Dark rust
patina to blade; typical wear to the wood grip.
