French Oak Stave Jug

This wine or water jug was completely handmade and is circa 1880's from France. The brass rim, handle and bands were handworked, and are fastened in place with brass nails. One of the brass bands has been repaired. This is one of the prettiest examples of water/wine jugs I have seen, for the brass and for the patina of the wood. Dimensions are 21' high, base to spout, 11' wide at the widest part of the jug, 15 1/2' from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle. The handle is 11 1/2' high, the jug opening is 6' wide and the base is 9' in diameter.
