Pair of French C.1850-65 hand carved Louie XV chairs with original gilt parcel in a slightly bronze tone. Detailed carving of acanthus leaves surround the oval backs and open work carving at lower back. The arms with padded arm rests as well as the knees show additional carving. Block carving with rosette above each of the reeded Louis XVI legs. Newly upholstered in a gold damask with cross pattern of small floral in light yellow,rose and cream with green leaves. Antique brass nail-head and gemp trim. New springs and padding,crowned high, make the pair extremely comfortable. Slight wear to the original gilt especially in small areas on the back as seen. Sturdy. Measure 38H X 24L X 21D each. Extremely handsome pair.
