Gorgeous 18th century hand carved French fruitwood drop front desk with 6 step back scrolled drawers on the interior and shelf above for storage. Two center compartments with sliding thick wood covers and indented finger slot. Small brass loop hardware on drawers,one missing yet can be opened by hand.The writing surface is black leather. Constructed of one inch thick fruitwood,expertly crafted. Scrolled drop front with original brass lock and key. Two small drawers below with the slides in addition to hold the slant front when open. There is a fruitwood stand on the front of the drop front door for holding stationary or art work at an angle for writing or painting. Scalloped thick apron on the sides and high legs. This desk is a good size for everyday use and very sturdy. Beautiful patina and condition with wear as would be expected for this age. A few minor worm holes seen as natural from this era,no threat in current time and tiny chip above the door. Measures 37H X 33L X 21.5D.
