This Victorian period, grand, patinated bronze, figural clock is signed E. Picault (1833-1915) with a French foundry mark. The male figure holds a shield, which translates: "The head of the hand leadith". He is resting on a full sized lion. The casting details are fabulous. If you look closely, you will see a small tip of the lion's tail is missing, otherwise the sculpture is in excellent condition. The base of the clock has further writings, which translate: "Strength of the mighty". The clock rests on a black marble base, which measures 10" X 10". The clock has a decorative floral enameled face with its original fancy brass hands. The original 8-day movement is in excellent working condition having its key and pendulum. The clock strikes every hour and half hour. What a commanding clock both in quality and stature.
