French Desvres Faience Lidded Vase, Fourmaintraux
Faience is tin –glazed earthenware covered in enamel glaze that has been produced in France for over 300 years. During the 19th century, the Fourmaintraux dynasty made Desvres the most important earthenware center in northern France - producing decorated earthenware vases.
This French Vase has the classic early Desvres floral design in the rich blue, green, cream, bright orange and yellow colors. It has Rouen inspired motifs a matching lid and an amazing gloss finish. The Hallmarks indicate that the vase made in Fourmaintraux Freres Courquin factory in Desvres France.
Condition: Good for the age of the piece, colors are bright vase is solid, free of any cracks or repairs, age related crazing, typical pottery imperfections and marks , chip in one area at the top; however the lid conceals the imperfection. See Photos
