This set of six .950 sterling silver French candle sticks, circa 1900, is quite unusual due to most candle sticks being made in sets of two or four. These are superior quality, in excellent condition, with non-weighted circular bases. They are topped with removable bobeshes and have been stamped, along with the bases, with the profile of a man’s head facing left (Mercury) with the number 950; this mark was introduced in 1879 to certify the .950 sterling silver standard. Also stamped on the bobeshes and bases are the words Boin-Taburet a Paris together with a diamond-shaped mark. Each stick is approx. 11” tall and approx. 5 ½ “ in diameter at the base. Together all six sticks weigh a total of 146 troy ounces.
