Frederic Remington Portfolio of 6 Prints, Dated 1909

The portfolio cover says 8 prints, but when purchased by "My Lady" there was a total of 6 prints inside. The portfolio cover itself shows some wear, but holds the 6 prints and is tied with a bow on the right side. The six prints inside are 11.5 inches x 16 inches which includes a creamy border around all sides. They are as follows: "The Dead Men"(signature showing of Mr. Remington), "The Snow Trail" (signature showing of Mr. Remington), "The Pool in the Desert", "With the Eye of the Mind", "Indians Simulating Buffalo", and "On the Southern Plains in 1860". Please email us for all the photos. On each left hand corner of each individual print is written " Copyright 1909 #7 F. F. Collier and Son" and on the right hand corner of each print is written "Painted by Frederic Remington" FF Collier, producer of Collier's Magazine commissioned Mr. Remington to paint pictures of the old west. They then copied the original painting in the style of the older magazine photos and this technique is called a "color relief" half tone. Mr. Remington, according to the website www.fredericfremingtonart.com destroyed about 100 of his paintings and these Collier prints are rare in that they are the only copies of some of the destroyed paintings. Two of the prints have the Frederic Remington signature showing; all have his name printed on them. These prints were all made before the art of copying and having the artist sign a print came into being. The prints are in good shape and will be beautiful framed as a set.
