Charming antique framed Harrison Fisher print of a Cosmopolitan Magazine cover entitled "Day Dreams", copyright 1916. Harrison Fisher (1875 - 1934), artist and illustrator, was known as "The Father of A Thousand Girls", a reference to his prolific ability to draw and paint beautiful women. His "Fisher Girls" were as famous and admired as the "Gibson Girls." Fisher was under exclusive contract with Cosmopolitan Magazine to do their covers for many years. According to the label on the back of this piece, it was framed by "J. Whatley, Printseller, Picture Dealer, Gilder and Framemaker" of Waterloo Terrace, Southhampton. According to the label on the front, it eventually made its way to Alpha Antiques, Harvestime House, Isaac Imports on Kedsie Street in East Lansing, Michigan (misspelled Lancing). The framed piece measures approximately 14.125 inches high, 10.5 inches wide, and .375 inch deep; it weighs a little more than 1.25 pounds. The image is 7 inches by 10 inches. The framed piece is in fair to good condition. The frame, glass, and print are intact. The frame has a faux woodgrain finish. The print shows some water staining and there is spotting on the inside of the glass. The piece, purchased from an estate, has been left in its original condition.
