A intricate four bottle cruet set in a lovely silver plate stand. The silver plate stand has unusual acanthus leaves in the design that continue to the feet and an interesting heart shaped handle. The matching cut glass bottles were originally used as for condiments - oil and vinegar would each have then own bottles, the bottle with the silver plate shaker top was used for pepper and the remaining bottle with its hinges lid with a cut out for the spoon would have originally held mustard. (Salt would have been in a separate salt cellar.) Note that the spoon has a gold wash on it! Today cruet sets hold everything from bath salts to barbecue sauce!
