Flow Black Plate with Provenance
Unavailable
Here's a wonderful example of flow black or mulberry English transferware pottery in stunning condition for its age. The pattern is TJ&J Mayer's Rhone "Scenery" and there is a label dated August 26, 1943 taped to the back which reads "This plated belonged to great aunt Elmira Turner now it belongs Geneve C. Sweeten from 90 - 100 years old." And that was in 1943! The amazing part of this astonishing plate is that there are absolutely NO chips on this 150+ year plus plate, only a tiny 1/4" stress crack on one edge (that actually looks like it occurred during firing) and the expected age crazing. An unbelievable fleatique find!
