Fireplace Fender, 18th C., Paktong, English

Unavailable
To a most rare English fireplace fender in the Adams' neoclassic manner. The fender was cast in three pieces and soldered together. Fan paterae are applied and peanned over to the rear. The bottom cove member is of iron wrapped with thin paktong to save the precious silver color brass. The piece retains the old sheet iron bottom attached with screws. Conceivably the fender was made in China from an English model that was shipped there for duplication in this rare metal (#1714)
