This statue of the small boy, going to the bathroom is one of largest tourist attractions of Brussels.

Manneke Pis existed already in the 15de centuries.

The official origin is up to 13 Augusts 1619. Then the lead city sculptor gave his version of Manneke to Jerome Duquesnoy. Trough the centuries Manneke pis was frequently hidden, to protect him against hostile anomies.

Manneke Pis has been stolen a number of times by plundering soldiers and even inhabitants of Geraardsbergen, a neighboring city close by. They claim, that there statue of the boy, was older than the one in Brussels

Many people do not know that Manneken pis is frequently dressed. On this moment, its wardrobe exists from more than 700 costumes. One of the rooms of the museum of the city Brussels, - The bread house became the main place to exhibited the many costumes.

Manneke Pis got its first costume on 1 May 1698. The governor of The Netherlands gave the costume for the occasion of the celebration which had been organized by one of the gilds of Brussels.

Nowadays Manneke Pis still frequently get costumes. As thanks for that, he serves the donors beer from a beer barrel which has been connected directly on the statue.

Some particular costumes are his Elvis Presley and his Mickey Mouse outfit.

This table bell measures 6 ¼” or 16cm tall.

It is in excellent condition except that the original clapper is missing. It has been replaced by a copper ring, what gives it a nice sound.
