We are pleased to be offering this outstanding RJ Horner Carved Mahogany Desk to you today. Dating from the 1890’s, this piece is constructed of solid mahogany. Heavily carved with a rectangular shaped writing surface, this desk is fitted with five drawers with scrolling leaves and handles that are carved loin’s masks. The back of the desk has five carved drawers, and the front of the desk has faux-partner desk façade that mirrors the back of the desk. The double molded round edge top and panel sides coupled with the exquisitely carved full standing winged griffins that terminate in a heavily detailed claw foot attest to the quality and superiority of this piece. The desk was refinished in a beautiful red brown mahogany stain finish sometime within the last 30 years. The overall condition is very nice, with only one of the toes having minor damage that we will have our professional cabinet maker detail out before shipping to you. This piece measures 30 inches tall, 54 inches wide, and 34 inches deep. The kneehole measures roughly 23 inches tall and 17.5 inches wide. There is a small detail directly below the center drawer that measures down about one-inch, so for the purposes of a chair, I would take into account that detail.
