For Sale is a very nice piece of Carnival Glass made by The Fenton Glass Company of Williamstown, West Virginia. The Pattern is "Sailboats" and the shape is known as a Compote. The foot has a diameter of 2 7/8".
The Compote Displays a wonderful Marigold Base Glass with very Vibrant iridescence. The colors are just splendid as you can see brilliant Fuchsias, Greens and Blues for the Compote Cup. The Cup sits on a clear stippled spiral stem with a clear round foot. The pattern is on the exterior part of the compote and not on the inside. There is iridescence on the exterior and the interior.
The Compote is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is unsigned as is true with this early pattern. More than likely had a Paper Label at one time. This is a very nice compote in a not so commonly found pattern. Those Collector's of Marigold and Fenton and want an excellent example in both form and Iridescence will be extremely pleased with their purchase. This is known as Pattern #1774 in the early Fenton Catalog.
This piece is early as it was made Circa 1914-1922.
