C.1880-1905 hand painted French desk and chair which can also be used as a farm table or center island with work chair. Other chairs could also be added for dining if desired . Blue mottled center background outlined in darker blue with matching scrolls at all corners. Cream wide border with blue cove edge as trim . Gorgeous hues in the two large fruit bouquets of strawberries,apples,grapes and oranges painted on the blue background.Cream mottled legs and apron with blue lining and scrolls as well as on the one center drawer with heavy loop hardware. The thick planks of wood can be seen on the inside of drawer as well as the bottom of the table making it extremely solid and sturdy. Upholstered in a corresponding color toned thicker fabric sometime within the last few years,the chair has gorgeous carving on the center back and knees in light blue against the mottled cream background. Lion type claw feet. Chair also very sturdy. Bits of the wood showing through from expected age wear as seen on the edges of table top,otherwise excellent condition. Wonderful set wherever used. Provides ample working space as a desk. Table/desk measures 59L X 29W X 32H. Chair measures 39.5H X 23D X 24L-seat 20 inches from the floor.26.25 inches from bottom of table apron to floor.
