Charming oil on board landscape painting of a sweet faced little girl with her friend or sister picking blossoms from an apple tree, by Fannie Burr circa 1880. The child is probably Fannie's sister Jennie. Fannie Burr (1858-1931) was born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Her father was a very successful farmer. She attended and graduated from Mt Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts, and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman in those days. Listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Peter Falk. This painting was acquired directly from an heir to the estate.
