Offering this 7" long blade, (measuring straight across the blade area), 17" wide overall, mid 19th century coopers' hollow draw knife. It is marked in stamped lettering on the steel "ERNST BEYERLEIN". We are not fimilar with this maker, but we agree, this is a quality made hollow knife. The cutting edge is in good shape, some minor honing and your ready to go to work! The handles are designed to give the user a much better grip on this tool, and the handles are solid and well attached to the knife with steel spurs that go through the inside of the handle and are bent over on top of a steel washer like pad to hold the handles in one place. This basically traps the handle between the knife arm and the end cap, in this case an added feature of a slot in the arm end of the handle, also keeps if from turning. No cracks, no rust, good quality steel. A true collectible antique hollow knife! There is some minor pitting on this tool, but overall in good+ condition, no cracked, no rust on it at this time. These old coopers' tool are hard to find, particularly by this maker!
