Epic of Johnstown Flood Article and Pictures 1947. This is a February 1947 article with color pictures. Article is titled Epic of the Johnstown Flood Pictures painted by Harper Goff. This was one of the most terrible natural disasters in all history, the flood swept through the Conemaugh Valley, snuffing out 5000 lives. In the story it says Harper Goff, who painted the pictures recounts that as a small boy he was spellbound by the tales of a neighbor who had survived the Flood. Her own rescue was effected by a young man who stood in the belfry of a Johnstown church. The artists impression of the story is realistically depicted here. In excellent condition. Photo is taken through plastic and may show wrinkles or crookedness that is not in the article. This original magazine tear sheet measures 9 3/4 inches wide by 13 1/4 inches tall.
