English Victorian Dick Turpin Door Knocker Circa 1875.The back plate which is screwed to the door is 4.3/4" long and   1/2" wide. The horse and the figure of Dick Turpin riding it which is the "Knocker" part is 2.3/4" high X 2" wide. This cast brass piecehas not been cleaned and the back has lots of old brass polish in the in dentations. Legend has it that Dick Turpin went to London to seek his fortune and failed. He was leaving town on his horse when he heard a voice say, "Turn again Whittington, Lord Mayor of London." He turned around and stayed and became Lord Mayor of London.
