This is a mid century English darning mushroom or treen wood darner that has been painted to look like an actual mushroom with polka dots. This wooden or treen darner has a turned oak handle with with a red painted top with white spots and measures 4 inches long, 2.5 inches in diameter. The mushroom darning mushroom was made in the 1950-1960s when due to post war shortages in England socks and stockings were still being darned and mended. The darner is in excellent condition. A great piece and very collectible.
