A delightful scene depicting Katherine and Petruchio from "The Taming of the Shrew", underglaze block-printed and enamel overglazed by hand on an 8" x 8" tile, from Copeland's Shakespeare series. Tile is in very good condition with an old upper left corner nick and light wear to the surface. The tile's edge and border was painted a terra cotta color sometime along its journey from 1880 and faint traces of the paint remain around the yellow border.
